Jackson Arts Council celebrates local artists while beginning transition to next director

Jackson Arts Council celebrates local artists while beginning transition to next director View Comments Jackson Arts Council’s main objective is to promote the work of local artists, and they did that this past week with its second annual The Arts Backstage event. The event is held on the stage at The Ned, and local artists were lined up throughout the stage area and to the side where backstage would be during a production with their work on display. “We spread it out some this year because last year’s inaugural event happened in February right before the pandemic,” said Melinda Reid, who finished up more than eight years as executive director for JAC on Friday. “But this allows for the artists to have more room to mingle and for visitors to come in and have a more relaxed experience.”

DVIDS - News - Army, training vendor team up to make it easier to certify medical maintainers

3 FORT DETRICK, Md. The U.S. Army is making it easier for medical maintainers to train and affirm their abilities as subject-matter experts in their field. As of April 1, Soldiers working as biomedical equipment specialists, known by the military occupational specialty code 68A, can now enroll in several types of job-related training with no out-of-pocket expense. “For many years, Soldiers had to request training through their unit and see if the unit would pay for it,” Master Sgt. Wesley Ladlee said. “Now, Soldiers can just go in, click a few buttons and they’re funded for their test.” Seeing an opportunity to improve the training process, Sgt. 1st Class Jaime Sanchez worked with the Army’s training partner the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, or AAMI to secure an agreement to become a recognized vendor through the new ArmyIgnitED credentialing program.
