Echols Leads Gator Softball to Doubleheader Sweep of USF
Charla Echols stepped to the plate in the first inning of the first game of a doubleheader against USF with two runners on base. She blasted the third pitch in the at-bat over the fence in right-center field to give the Gators an early 3-0 lead in the first game of the doubleheader.
Offense Looks to Continue Dominance After Strong Weekend
After mustering just one hit in Saturday night’s loss against Georgia, it looked as though the Gators may lose their first SEC series of the year. However, the Gators bats came alive in game two and three of the series, handing the Bulldogs their worst loss in program history 17-1. In the rubber match Monday, the Gators continued their offensive firepower, beating the Bulldogs 8-1. Charla Echols crushed two home runs in the series finale, propelling the Gators to their fourth straight SEC victory.
In non-conference play, the Gators excel against their opponents. Hannah Adams leads the team in batting average against non-c0nference opponents hitting .482 (27-of-56). Cheyenne Lindsey is not far behind, batting .434 (23-of-53) outside SEC play. Additionally, Charla Echols, Kendyl Lindaman, and Jaimie Hoover are all hitting over .300 against opponents outside the SEC.

Echols extended the Gators lead to 4-0 in the 3
rd inning with her second home run of the game. The Newnan, Ga. native blasted the 2-1 pitch over the center field wall for her second multi-home run game of the season and fourth of her career.

Avery Goelz turned in a season-high three RBI performance.
Florida took the initial lead of the contest thanks to back-to-back home runs in the top of the 1
st inning.
Kendyl Lindaman started the three-run rally with a one-out single to Sydney Kuma at second base, which set the table for Echols’ team-leading sixth home run of the year.
Echols blasted the two-run shot over the 220-foot center field wall off of Georgia right-handed pitcher Alley Cutting (4-2) to give UF the initial 2-0 lead.
Julia Cottrill immediately followed up with a solo home run down the right field line to extend the lead out to 3-0.
