JAIPUR: Rajasthan health minister Raghu Sharma on Monday said that the possibility of getting infected with Covid-19 even after vaccination cannot be ruled out and those who got vaccinated should not give up wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. He said that testing facilities for Covid-19 will soon be increased to one lakh per day from the existing 70,000 in the state. Covid-19 cases are rapidly increasing due to negligence of people. The number of those infected with Covid-19 across the state in February was only 60, today the number has crossed 1,700, Sharma said

Protests in Ajmer over liquor shops in residential areas | Jaipur News

Representative image AJMER: Several protests were held across the city after the allotment of liquor shops in residential areas. People alleged that these shops are being opened near schools, temples or in residential areas, which flouts rules. However, the excise department stated that allotment of liquor shops in different regions are made after getting NOC from different departments. People in Kesarganj on Saturday demanded to close the liquor shop near Sabzi Mandi. They said that there is a school as well as a mosque near the shop and therefore, it is against the norms. Hundreds of people gathered and shouted slogans against the excise department and demanded to close or shift the shop elsewhere. Clock tower police reached the spot and controlled the situation.

Vishram Jatav & Gaffar Mohammed KOTA: Two labourers from Rajasthan, who had gone to Saudi Arabia for work three years ago, have been held ‘captive’, subjected to inhuman torture for over four months in Yanbu city despite their work agreement expired in November 2020. They are Gaffar Mohammed (49) of Bundi and Vishram Jatav (46) of Bharatpur. Congress leader Charmesh Sharma, who has so far facilitated safe return of over 400 Indians having been illegally stuck or held in Arabia in past, initiated attempt for their home return and lodged a complaint with the ministry of external affairs on March 20 and also wrote to the authorities concerned demanding immediate action for their safe return.

Two accused in police custody JAIPUR: Jaipur police in two separate raids seized 3.6 kg of smack and arrested six peddlers under operation ‘Clean Sweep’ on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, Vishwakarma police station seized the narcotics from a luxury car amid the presence of Sajid Khan (27), Tasleem Khan (25), Azharuddin (29) residents of Malakheda in Alwar and Ronaq Meo (21) from Nuh in Mewat. Prima facie investigation revealed that they were repeat offenders and had been supplying drugs in different cities. “The accused revealed that they got the drugs from Madhya Pradesh and paid Rs 1.30 lakh per kilogram to supply it for Rs 1.80 lakh per kilogram. They have been using a private vehicle to ferry drugs from MP,” said Khaleel Ahmed, police inspector, CST, which is investigating the network in the state. “Soon, we will expose the network, which is spread across states, and more arrests are likely to follow,” said Ahmed.
