The Mocs played like they were capable in the opening 20 minutes when they built a 35-22 halftime lead, but the second half was a totally different story as the Terriors scorched the nets for 55 points to win with ease, 77-59. Wofford improves to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in SoCon play while Chattanooga falls to 11-4 overall and 2-4 in conference action.

Racist image on official Instagram account sparks outcry at Wofford College; employee canned

An employee at South Carolina’s small, private Wofford College has been let go due to a “racist” image posted to the school’s official basketball Instagram account last week. The image of a black Wofford player holding two fried chicken legs in hand with the caption “FRIED” on top apparently was intended as a reference to Coastal Carolina University’s mascot, a rooster known as the chanticleer. Wofford had defeated CCU the day before. Despite the intention of dunking, so to speak, on a state rival, the Wofford administration quickly apologized for the racist connotations associated with the image.
