But the agony of being labeled as ‘Khalistan supporters’ and anti-national must have surely hurt their feelings. For the first time, Vijay Diwas, commemorating the 1971 war victory, was celebrated by veterans at Singhu on 16 December.
Farm laws meant to encourage hoarding and weaken MSP regime, says Priyanka
Launching a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra said on Wednesday, “Beneath the 56-inch chest, the Prime Minister has a small heart that beats for his billionaire friends.”
She was speaking at a ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ in Saharanpur.
Questioning the intention of the government, Ms. Vadra said the PM was spending ₹20,000 crore on the redevelopment of the Parliament House and had money to buy two planes worth 16,000 crore but he didn’t fulfil his promise of paying the pending ₹15,000 crore of sugarcane farmers.
He further alleged that
andolanjeevis were polluting the pure motives of protesting farmers by hijacking well-intentioned agitations.
Modi made these remarks while replying in the Lok Sabha to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President s address.
The Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, speaking to reporters after the walkout by his party MPs, said they were forced to do so as the prime minister did not say anything to satisfy the party s concerns over the farm laws.
