The National Weather Service Tampa Bay said its Geostationary Lightning Mapper captured the bright meteor that shocked Floridians late Monday as it burned up off the coast.

A meteor shot across the sky around 10 p.m. Monday.

CBS 12 s Jay O Brien was on FB Live talking about another story when the asteroid showed up and said sup . Talk about right place at the right time and I m mad I missed this last night. This asteroid was extremely close to earth too at around 16,000 miles away. You might think that s not close. It is when you re talking asteroids and things that can destroy us.
