Ocean City's Daily Flag-Raising Ceremony Moves To Music Pier - Ocean City, NJ - The daily boardwalk flag-raising ceremony will continue in a new location at the Ocean City Music Pier starting on Saturday, May 29.
Mayor Jay Gillian said Tuesday that the city is handling allegations of sexual misconduct made against the Ocean City Beach Patrol with the "utmost urgency."
Effective immediately, he has appointed his aide Michael Allegretto to oversee operations of the beach patrol and undertake a number of steps, the mayor announced in a statement.

Ocean City officials on Friday said they have hired a labor attorney to investigate allegations of sexual abuse within the Ocean City Beach Patrol that were posted anonymously on social media.
In a statement, a city spokesman said Vanessa E. James of the law firm Barker, Gelfand, James and Sarvas, would “conduct a confidential internal investigation of allegations against Ocean City Beach Patrol employees.”
The allegations - which were shared earlier this month on an Instagram account ocbp predators, - include claims of rampant sexual abuse often committed by older members against younger members of the OCBP. The posts include stories of sexual assault against underage girls along with heavy drug and alcohol use.

Ocean City’s mayor announced Tuesday the city will hire an independent contractor to oversee the day-to-day operations of its beach patrol, which has come under fire for accusations of sexual abuse.
Mayor Jay A. Gillian also said one of his aides, Michael Allegretto, will be tasked with retaining a seasoned labor attorney to “ensure the city’s policies and procedures are sufficient, correctly implemented and properly communicated.”
The announcement comes as the Instagram account, ocbp predators, continues to post anonymous stories of sexual assault and rape against members of the Ocean City Beach Patrol.
