Syrian Arab Republic: IDP Spontaneous Returns (February 2021) [EN/AR/TR]
Format
In February 2021, the humanitarian community recorded some 10,000 spontaneous IDP return movements across Syria, around 24 percent less than in January. Over 6,000 of these (60 percent) occurred within and between Aleppo and Idleb governorates.
At the sub-district level, the Jebel Saman sub-district in Aleppo governorate received the highest number of spontaneous return movements in February, with around 2,800 returns, while the Ehsem and Ariha sub-districts in Idleb governorate received some 1,000 and 900 spontaneous IDP return movements respectively. Over the same period, more than 300 spontaneous IDP return movements were received by the Homs sub-district in Homs governorate and the Dayr Hafir sub-district in Aleppo governorate.
IDP Movements
In February 2021, the humanitarian community tracked some 31,000 IDP movements across Syria, around four percent less than the numbers tracked in January 2021. As in preceding months, most IDP movements were concentrated in northwest Syria, with 83 percent occurring within and between Aleppo and Idleb governorates. At the sub-district level, the Maaret Tamsrin sub-district in Idleb governorate received the largest number of displaced people, with around 2,600 movements in February, followed by some 2,300 IDP movements received by the Bulbul sub-district in Aleppo governorate and the Dana sub-district in Idleb governorate. The Al-Hasakeh sub-district in Al-Hasakeh governorate also received some 1,600 IDP movements. The Salqin and Ariha sub-districts in Idleb governorate each received around 1,400 movements, while the A’zaz sub-district in Aleppo governorate received some 1,200 IDP movements.

In January 2021, the humanitarian community tracked some 32,400 IDP movements across Syria, around twenty-five percent less than the numbers tracked in December 2020. As in preceding months, most IDP movements were concentrated in northwest Syria, with 92 percent occurring within and between Aleppo and Idleb governorates. At the sub-district level, Bulbul in Aleppo governorate received the largest number of displaced people, with around 3,000 IDP movements in January, followed by some 2,900 IDP movements received by Maaret Tamsrin in Idleb governorate. A’zaz sub-district in Aleppo governorate and Dana sub-district in Idleb governorate received around 2,200 and 2,000 movements respectively, while the Kafr Takharim sub-district in Idleb governorate and the Ghandorah sub-district in Aleppo governorate each received some 1,600 IDP movements.
