PM s massive $40m vaccine problem

This is anything but reassuring and motivating, all it does is underline concerns. We should be thrilled about breaking free from COVID, not fretting about the process. That s what the vaccination campaign needs to centre on. The vaccination campaigns in New Zealand and Singapore are both upbeat, positive and use music to stress that a vaccine will bring both you and the community freedom. Vaccination matters for freedom and for economic recovery. The ad campaign has been misdirected, is boring and needs to be fixed by a competent communicator. If I was running it I d use a music track like Queen s I want to break free to tell the positive story.

Western Cape govt to now send Covid-19 vaccine SMSes to make process more accessible

Nafiz Modack and co-accused get ready to launch bail bid - the charges so far

The charges involve an alleged hand grenade murder attempt and conspiring to kill a lawyer. Security is expected to be tight, as an Anti-Gang Unit member has also been drawn into the case. The Blue Downs Regional Court will hear a bail application on Friday involving controversial businessman Nafiz Modack and several other co-accused. Modack, an alleged underworld kingpin, faces a raft of charges, including alleged gang activity, being part of a hand grenade plot against slain Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detective Charl Kinnear, and a shooting at the home of Cape Town lawyer, William Booth. For security purposes, Modack and his co-accused were moved for one consolidated bail application.

Razor wire and body searches ahead of Modack bail application

Jenni Evans The application was moved to the Blue Downs Regional Court for security reasons.  Entry to the court was strictly controlled, with contractors not even allowed in.  A roll of razor wire cordoned off the heavily guarded Blue Downs Regional Court for the bail application of Nafiz Modack and others on Friday morning.  Armed officers did body and bag searches at the entrance to the court building, and again near the door of the court room where the matter will be heard.  Specialist officers with rifles and bullet proof vests guarded the corridor.  Female police specialists searched the women, and lawyer s robes turned into bat wings as they too had to raise their arms to be searched.
