Paterson highlights its local artists in Black History Month display

PATERSON Jennie Alston of Paterson was looking for something to help her get through the isolated times that came with coronavirus crisis.
“I’m not a TV person,” Alston said. “I’m a people person. Before COVID-19, I went out a lot. I wanted to use my time wisely rather than be bored, so I started to paint. I decided to go to Wal-Mart and get some canvas and paints.”
Alston took to painting so well that she was one of four local artists whose work was displayed in a City Hall exhibit during Black History Month. The others were Amir Akwetee, Craig Redmond, and Christopher Fabor Muhammed.
