Fairborn firefighters celebrate

As pandemic precautions have put a hold on certain celebrations within the department, FFD leadership recognized several accomplishments of first responders on Monday.

FAIRBORN As the pandemic put a delay on recognizing some of the city’s best, the Fairborn Fire Department took the opportunity Monday morning to properly recognize outstanding firefighters and welcome a new member to its ranks.
A BROMSGROVE salon which was forced to close numerous times since opening last year has been shortlisted for a prestigious award. Beauty boutique Saint Pearl, on Worcester Road, first opened less than a year ago and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the business has been going from strength to strength. Out of thousands of salons across the country, the Bromsgrove boutique has reached the finals for the Best Salon category of the official UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2021. The salon opened on July 4, 2020 following the first lockdown, and subsequently had to close when further lockdowns were imposed. The salon is owned by 21-year-old Hollie Brighton, who says she is “overwhelmed” by the achievement.
Animal lovers have been relieved to discover that the Pet Shop in Wheelock Street is staying open. Nothing has changed because we provide an essential service, said Genna Bennett, who has been serving customers for more than 20 years. The shop has been here for 40 years and the current owners Mr and Mrs Owen took over the business seven years ago. We provide specialist dog and cat food that you can t get in supermarkets. People want to give their animals the best food which is what we try and do. We have a lot of loyal customers. The shop has served generations of families.
