Machetes, swords and rusty kitchen knives were seized by police as they patrolled train stations and combed potential hiding spots for weapons.
The gruesome blades were recovered during stop searches and land sweeps across Merseyside as part of an operation targeting knife crime.
Officers also carried out secret shopping trips to investigate whether businesses were adhering to guidance around the sale of blades. Merseyside Police s anti-knife crime initiative, Operation Sceptre, led to 141 stop and searches last week. Fifteen people were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
The campaign saw 43 people stop searched across the area and nine weapon sweeps of locations. Officers also held talks at schools including Thatto Heath Primary School, St Cuthberts School, Cowley College, Rainford, St Augustine s and Rainhill High School. Open land searches took place at Nanny Goat Park in Parr. Meanwhile, Crime Prevention advice letters were distributed to local retailers. The machete was seized when two men, aged 27 and 28, were arrested on May 2 for possession of a bladed article. A Ford Focus was stopped on the St Helens Linkway, near Junction 7, of the M62, Rainhill. Inside the boot of the car, officers located a large machete.
