He removed any information on Twitter linking him to his job as a crossing guard, his claim says, but he was still dismissed. A former Hamilton city employee who said he was constructively dismissed in February 2019 has taken the city to court, seeking damages in the amount of $35,000. Stewart Klazinga who worked part-time as a school crossing guard from Sept. 27, 2017 until Feb. 7. 2019 alleges the city forced him to choose between his job and freedom of expression. Klazinga told CBC Hamilton that he engages in local advocacy and volunteer for non-profits and political organizations.
