The memorial for fallen Columbus police officers was vandalized sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
The memorial, which was built in 2000 to honor Columbus officers killed in the line of duty, is located on Washington Boulevard in Genoa Park near COSI on the west bank of the Scioto River in the Downtown area.
On Tuesday, it was discovered that someone had spray painted genitalia symbols as well as profanities on the memorial, including over the names of officers who had been killed.
Police are aware of the vandalism and are investigating. A tarp was placed over the memorial and cleanup work was expected to begin as soon as possible.
