That is a bit concerning : Central Georgia health department sees steep decline in COVID-19 testing
Last summer, the health department was collecting close to 1,400 tests a week across their 13 counties. Now, they re collecting just 20 tests at their three sites Author: Sarah Hammond Updated: 5:38 PM EDT April 12, 2021
MACON, Ga. A service that was in high demand a year ago is trailing off.
Last year, people were waiting in line to have their noses swabbed for a COVID-19 test.
Now, the health department is seeing only a handful of testing appointments each week. We ve seen a huge huge drop-off in demand, says Michael Hokanson with the North Central Health District.
With the signing of Senate Bill 181 in April 2019, Colorado s local governments were given a power they d never enjoyed before: the ability to restrict oil and gas operations within their borders, rather than be held to state guidelines. Two years later, the City and County of Broomfield is preparing to pass a set of holistic regulations for the industry and they re shaping up to be the most stringent regulations in Colorado, says Broomfield Mayor Patrick Quinn.
Those regulations are just part of the county s wide-ranging, safety-minded agenda. While physically the smallest county in the state, Broomfield has been the site of some of Colorado s biggest health and safety moves by residents and public officials alike.

Study shows rates of prolonged visits for pediatric mental health ED visits increased over a decade
Rates of prolonged visits for pediatric mental health emergency department (ED) visits increased over a decade, in contrast to non-mental health visits for which visit times remained stable, according to a study published in the journal
Pediatrics.
From 2005-2015, rates of ED visits lasting over six hours for children presenting for mental health issues jumped from 16 percent to nearly 25 percent, while rates of visits lasting over 12 hours increased from 5 percent to nearly 13 percent.
The trend of increasingly long ED visits for pediatric mental health problems likely represents worsening access to essential mental health services. This is concerning, especially since during the COVID-19 pandemic we are seeing substantially more children coming to the ED for mental health reasons.
