ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) For more than a year, News10NBC has been investigating major issues with New York State’s unemployment system.
The NYS Comptroller now has the department under a microscope too. Tom DiNapoli and his team are currently conducting a forensic audit of the NYS Department of Labor’s unemployment system to see just how badly it failed during the pandemic and why and what is being done to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
News10NBC Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke recently spoke with DiNapoli about the ongoing investigation.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)– Appointments are now open for all four of Monroe County s Department of Motor Vehicle locations. Additionally, the department announced you can now select the specific types of services you need.
The department says appointments can fill up quickly, and the new system will only take appointments six weeks out to reduce no-show rate.
Issues with appointments is a story News10NBC has followed through the pandemic, as people reported having a hard time booking them. As early as the end of April, appointments were locked up through Memorial Day.
During
an interview with News10NBC Investigative Reporter Jennifer Lewke, Monroe County Clerk, Jamie Romeo, who runs the DMV, said an executive order by Governor Cuomo bans her from allowing walk-ins and because some of her staff is needed to process mail-in and online transactions, she’s only got about 1,200 appointments per day
