According to SF Gate, an Asian-American parent was dropping off their child for a swim meet at Willow Glen Middle School in San Jose when they saw the words “white power” spray painted on an electrical box on campus. The parent was concerned that whoever spray painted the graffiti wanted young kids to see it. They took a photo of the graffiti and sent it to school officials.

BOSTON (AP) Massachusetts is making more than $46 million in grants to support a dozen shovel-ready housing projects across the state that will bring create hundreds of new affordable units.
Of the 572 new units, 507 are considered affordable, and 108 will be reserved for extremely low-income households, according to a statement this week from the Department of Housing and Community Development.
The awards will provide a combination of state and federal housing tax credits, state and federal rental vouchers, and direct funds to support new housing development.

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo’s efforts through his new advocacy organization to reopen San Jose schools is sparking frustration for some particularly communities of color.
Liccardo launched a petition through Solutions San Jose sending two emails within 24 hours to gather signatures demanding COVID-19 vaccines be prioritized for teachers and to reopen elementary schools. Liccardo said the continual closure of schools has created a “separate and unequal” education system unfairly hurting low-income families.

MARBLEHEAD Heather Dalton, owner of the boutique Seaside Allure, is relieved and hopeful after hearing that the town has won a Local Rapid Recovery Planning (LRRP) grant to help town businesses that have been hit hard by the pandemic.
“It’s been really quiet. Just getting people to come in the door is hard,” Dalton said. “People are hunkered down. And they’re shopping at big box stores online, putting the little businesses in a tough place.”
