Somersworth apartment fire: Friends, Red Cross help 14 displaced

SOMERSWORTH  The community is rallying to help 14 residents who lost their homes and belongings in a fire on Mother s Day at a multiple-family apartment building. The Red Cross is assisting 12 residents, six adults and six children, according to Jennifer Costa, spokesperson for the region. We are providing financial assistance, said Costa. We are helping with shelter, clothing and food. We are also helping with some health services, like working with pharmacies to replace needed prescriptions lost in the fire. Our hearts go out to all the families involved. Derrick Rice, his partner Tasha Cullen, and their four girls, Dayjah, 4, twin 8-year-olds Amiyah and Alexiah, and Jazlynn, 13, are staying in a local hotel, with help from the Red Cross. Two friends, Victoria Brewster and Kevin Watt, have set up a GoFundMe page to help the family recoup their losses. It can be found at gofundme.com/f/please-help-grymey-and-his-family.
