(ABC 6 News) - Nonprofits serve our community in many different ways, and many people found that during the pandemic they could rely on these organizations for food, shelter, and even healthcare. But the pandemic was hard on our nonprofits too. Some had to close down and won t be reopening.
The Minnesota attorney general recently released data that shows at least 186 nonprofits ceased operations since April 2020.
The pandemic put many key community services on pause and we had limited access to food banks, child care, health care, and the arts. Nonprofits that provided these services had to close their doors. At the start, no one knew how to do these things safely.

(ABC 6 News) - Affordable housing options have been a struggle to find in the Rochester community.
Approximately $156,000 from Community Block Grant funding through the City of Rochester and a grant from the Coalition for Rochester Area Housing went to help renovate three homes that will be in the Community Land Trust. Affordable housing isn t an issue that s going to be solved with one home, it s not going to be solved with just this home. But, what we hope that by showcasing this home, is that we can really show how working together we can all make a difference, Jennifer Woodford, president of Rochester Area Foundation and First Homes said.
