Support Continues To Grow For Unverferth, Family

By Editor | May 5, 2021 By MARK EVANS mevans@stegenherald.com Two weeks after being seriously injured by a Molotov cocktail on April 16, Ste. Genevieve police officer Pete Unverferth is slowly recovering. “He’s getting a little bit better every day,” police chief Eric Bennett said last Friday. “It’s going to take quite a  while for him to get back to normal, but he says he’s adjusting to life  at home. It’s just taking it day by day.” Bennett said the family has been overwhelmed by the support he has gotten. Unverferth was brought from a St. Louis hospital to his Perry County home, with a parade of emergency vehicles, including Ste. Genevieve Police, Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol, circling through downtown Ste. Genevieve on its way.

Aldermen Discuss City IT Management

By Editor | February 10, 2021 By ERIC X. VICCARO eviccaro@stegenherald.com The city of Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen had a work session on Jan. 14 to discuss information technology management. Monte Hickey, president of Forward/Slash Technology, made a short presentation via the Zoom teleconferencing application. Forward/Slash Technology is a St. Louis-based computer consulting firm serving mainly small and medium-sized business. The company has been in business for more than 20 years, and one of its specialties is municipal infrastructure. For example, Forward/Slash provides IT services for the city of Perryville, 28 miles south of Ste. Genevieve. During the work session, there seemed to be some confusion among the aldermen about what kind of services would be offered, should the elected officials give the green light to Forward/Slash.
