Police are responding to fatal collision at Clifton Springs
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Clifton Springs this morning.
Police have been told the collision on Jetty Road, between a pedestrian and a car, occurred about 7.30am.
The pedestrian, a 79-year-old Clifton Springs man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.
The driver, a 37-year-old Curlewis man, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.

Driver of homemade convertible arrested, South Australia
A driver was arrested at Glenelg overnight after running a red light in front of a patrol car.
Just before 1am on Sunday 2 May, police were patrolling Jetty Road, Glenelg when a white car drove past, heading east along Jetty Road. The occupants yelled at the patrol then the vehicle ran a red light, right in front of police.
The car was pulled over on Douglas Grove, Glenelg North.
Police checks revealed the driver’s licence had been expired for six years and he was currently on bail not to drive.
