PIERRE – The latest Pierre Athletic Coaches Association-Avera Athletes of the Week are gymnastics’ Aubre Westover and basketball’s Jett Zabel and Matthew Coverdale, for the week ending January 2.
In a triangular win over Stevens and Central in Rapid City on January 2, Westover was co-champion on the balance beam, second in vault and fourth in floor exercise. This helped Pierre score a season-high 131.40 points.
Head Coach Rebecca Feller said of Westover: “Aubre makes a point to encourage the underclassmen on the team and leads by example. Aubre has done a great job balancing her gymnastics schedule, academic commitments and work. She is part of the G2G program and works hard in school, taking multiple dual credit and AP classes. She was on the 1st quarter 4.0 honor roll. She also maintains a part-time job during the school year/gymnastics season.”
