School starts tomorrow for Ocean Springs School District

WXXV News 25 August 3, 2021 Tomorrow is the first day of school for the Ocean Springs School District and kids will have a COVID-19 policy to follow when they arrive on campus in the morning. The Ocean Springs Board of Trustees voted three to two to implement a mask requirement to begin the school year which will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis. Earlier today, meet the teacher took place at many of their schools, giving parents and students the opportunity to see the classroom and meet their teacher. Last year meet and greets were not possible due to the pandemic. For parents at Magnolia Park Elementary, it puts their mind at ease getting to meet the teacher before school starts. It is especially important for the parents of youngsters that are attending school for the first time. It is a high school romance set in the 1950s complete with cheerleaders, fast cars, burger bars and coffee houses – populated by teenagers with attitude and obsessed by the opposite sex. GRABC prospered despite pandemic Glen Rose Reporter GLEN ROSE The 2020-21 school year began with the cloud of uncertainty hanging over it as worries swirled if COVID-19 would cancel the year or severely limit participation. The Glen Rose Athletic Booster Club had the same worry, but in the end, the nonprofit organization enjoyed one of its best years in recent memory. “Although the worry was still present, our great sponsors and supporters were eager to regain normalcy,” said GRABC President-Elect Jessica Douglas. “I believe resiliency amongst our community was the largest factor of last year’s success.” Through donations, banner sales, concession sales, flag and apparel sales, and other sponsorship avenues, the booster awarded $19,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.
