Black Lives Matter Canada is moving its community-focused art and activism centre Wildseed to a new home this winter.
The activist organization just signed the papers on the purchase of 24 Cecil, a three-story 10,440-square-foot Victorian house near Chinatown. The first location of Wildseed opened in March 2020, a week before the pandemic began, but the new location is substantially larger than that 1,600-square-foot industrial space on Geary.

Justin Lee, an Emergency and critical-care veterinarian revealed to Insider that letting a dog carry their own toy after a long play session may lead to dangerous overheating. Your dog let out most of its heat through panting since it lacks sweat glands. Holding an object in the mouth actually partly restricts the heat released from the mouth, which can bring about overheating, Justin said.

Kirk is confident in the safety of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Her fellow community members, however, don’t all feel the same way.
Many of Kirk’s neighbors in the predominantly Black and low-income neighborhood of East Akron are hesitant to take the vaccine because they fear negative consequences.
“They think it’s just the government giving them something just to kill off, you know… the poor Black community. … [Not] just Black people, but minorities,” Kirk said on a frigid early January afternoon outside of Dave’s Supermarket, a bustling neighborhood grocery store.
