Coachella announces 2022 return after COVID-19 cancellations

Why do Coachella Valley senior centers have different reopening guidelines?

on those plans, not all of the centers are opening at the same time   or following the same guidelines.  The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert, for example, will open next week, while others are waiting to be in closer alignment with the state s reopening date of June 15.  In board discussions and in meetings together, senior center leaders have weighed concerns about privacy and individual freedom against issues of public health and safety. The result is varying rules about face masks   and only one place allowing vaccinated people to enter without a mask.  That s happened every step of the way, said Geoff Corbin, president and CEO of the Cathedral City Senior Center.

Riverside County bars still closed as COVID-19 metrics too high for yellow tier

Riverside County bars will have to wait at least two more weeks before opening indoors, as the county s COVID-19 metrics improved slightly Tuesday but still remained above the threshold for lifting more business restrictions. The county reported a case rate of 2.5 new daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents compared to last week s 2.8. The county s positivity rate is 1.5% and its positivity among at-risk populations is 1.6%, Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari said during a Board of Supervisors meeting.  Last week s positivity rate was 1.6% and positivity among at-risk populations was 1.9%. The county has been in the orange tier of the state s four-tiered, color-coded reopening framework since April 6. In order to move into the least-restrictive yellow tier, a county needs to report fewer than two daily new cases per day, a positivity rate less than 2% and less than 2.2% positivity among at-risk populations, for two consecutive weeks.

A look ahead at what the Coachella Valley will look like come June 15 when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted

A look ahead at what the Coachella Valley will look like come June 15 when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted Tuesday, Riverside County officials announced will remain in the orange tier as metrics do not meet moving forward into the yellow tier. This means, the Coachella Valley will need to wait until June 15 for a move back to normal. California is expecting to lift all COVID-19 restrictions on June 15. “California continues to have one of the lowest positivity rates out of all states in the country…. It is about 0.7% versus other large states like Texas where it’s 3.8% or Florida where it’s 5.5%,” said Dr. Geoffrey Leung, Riverside County’s public health officer during a Riverside County board of supervisors meeting Tuesday.
