Cathedral City Senior Center executive director resigning ahead of June reopening
Two days after announcing the Cathedral City Senior Center would reopen mid-June, the center shared the news that Executive Director Geoff Corbin is resigning.
Corbin s last day will be June 14 the center is scheduled to reopen June 15. Corbin has been with the senior center since July 2019.
Cathedral City Senior Center Board President Gillian Cross said in an email announcement that Corbin was leaving to accept an extraordinary opportunity to help lead a large regional mission-based nonprofit. Cross said the board would announce his new placement soon. His passion and commitment to CCSC will be missed, Cross said.
Joslyn Center reopening in June with masks, social distancing requirements
After being closed for more than a year due to the pandemic, the Joslyn Center is scheduled to reopen next month. A reopening celebration is planned at the Palm Desert senior center from 10 a.m. to noon on June 2.
Guests will be welcome inside the center to renew or sign up for memberships, and pick up a schedule of available classes and activities. Safety protocols going forward at the center will also be explained. Other features of the event include a mini health expo, farmers market, free health screenings and a vaccine clinic.
