Refusing a 17 storey building IN A CITY CENTRE for blocking views of another building of a similar height seems shady. Aren’t there plans on the opposite site of the road on the Renaissance Hotel site for buildings of height in future plans too? Will these too be refused because they block views? Can we only now have one building of height at that end of Deansgate? The Speakers House scheme would massively improve that area of Deansgate and St Ann’s Square and replace the current eyesore of a building on the site.

The fact that the council have refused the speakers house development yet again proves just how short sighted they are. Replacing a ghastly 1960s block with something that will revitalise this part of town should have flown through, but instead, they just want to satisfy the NIMBY population in no. 1 Deansgate.

If Speakers House gets refused again, after it has been recommended for approval again, I would ask for an investigation if I was the developer. Something doesn’t feel right about it.

There’s no need for more offices in the city. With home working now taking off and working there going to a lot of empty space in the coming years.

That s when editor Jeffrey Bell says the 2021 Roster Book will be ready for distribution and all two and three-year-old s in training will be wearing their saddle pad numbers.
The 2021 Roster Book was first done by Bell two years ago and enables viewers watching the horses in training and then being able to look the horses up to see their pedigree, trainer and owners. You do not have to wait until mid-February for pitchers and catchers to report to get a little excited, Bell said. Come this Saturday, January 2, it s Opening Day at On The Deck at Sunshine Meadows. Everyone is invited to come and see the finest two and three-year-old pacers and trotters in their winter training for the upcoming 2021 racing season.
