Neil Tague Commercial Development Projects has proposed a pair of industrial units totalling more than 100,000 sq ft on land east of Irlam Wharf Road. The plans go before Salford City Council’s planning and transportation regulatory panel this Thursday, a session that will take place at Two New Bailey under the new Government guidelines barring virtual meetings. Approval is recommended by officers. CDP’s plans cover a 6.7-acre site in an area characterised by warehousing, sitting on the edge of the Northbank industrial estate. Place North West | Resi tower plotted for First Street Premier Inn

Sarah Townsend Ask Real Estate and Whitbread have unveiled plans to build a 41-storey residential tower and 400,000 sq ft of offices in the First Street development zone in central Manchester. The proposals, designed by Jon Matthews Architects, include the residential tower containing 370 one- to two-bedroom apartments constructed on the site of the Premier Inn, the freehold of which is owned by pub and hotel owner Whitbread. There would also be a 13-storey office block fronting Medlock Street and containing more than 390,000 sq ft of flexible workspace. The scheme, known as One Medlock Street, sits opposite the First Street commercial scheme, also being developed by Ask. The latest phase of First Street – a 400,000 sq ft office and retail block rising to 11 storeys at Plot 9 – was approved last April and 80,000 sq ft of it has been pre-let to online car dealership Auto Trader Group.

Place North West | PLANNING | Debenhams conversion tipped to progress

January 14, 2021 at 12:15 pmBy Steve All of these proposals are amazing, bar the student tower, which despite me loving the brick cladding, is far too thin. January 14, 2021 at 12:40 pmBy Slice All brilliant, get them all built. The last thing we should be doing as a city right now is turning down investment in good quality builds. January 14, 2021 at 12:43 pmBy Bob If Speakers House gets refused again, after it has been recommended for approval again, I would ask for an investigation if I was the developer. Something doesn’t feel right about it. January 14, 2021 at 12:51 pmBy JohnBoy There’s no need for more offices in the city. With home working now taking off and working there going to a lot of empty space in the coming years.
