Pittsfield Council Moves 10 Department Budgets Forward

Human Resources The budget of $218,982 is $17,277 more than the previous year and is attributed to salary increases. Ward 1 Councilor Helen Moon asked the Director of Huma Resources Michael Taylor why there is a line item for Diversity and Inclusion when the city is implementing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department. Taylor said there will still be an element of DEI that falls under his department despite the new office. We re still going to work very collaboratively with this new office, whether it s on recruitment and retention efforts, or it s on professional development,  he explained. And instituting the recommendations on that DEI group had a pretty heavy professional development component and training requirement, not just for city employees, also city boards, commissions, elected officials and so forth.

Staff Member Tests Positive for COVID-19 at ServiceNet Shelter

On Monday morning, ServiceNet became aware that the shelter employee produced a positive test. The employee was asymptomatic and had not been to work since Wednesday of last week, Senior Vice President of Shelter & Housing Jay Sacchetti said. ServiceNet has an emergency protocol that occurs in the case that a visitor or employee tests positive for the virus in any of their group homes or shelters.   The shelter did not shut down for the night, but went into quarantine and will test all employees and guests Wednesday. Since learning of the positive case, the shelter has been open 24/7, while it is normally only open around the clock on weekends and holidays.

Pittsfield s Trattoria Rustica Granted 30-day Inspection Certificate

    At Thursday s Licensing Board meeting, the owner of Trattoria Rustica Davide Manzo was granted a temporary 30-day building inspection certificate by Building Commissioner Jeffrey Clemons. Manzo s eatery is due for an inspection of the sprinkler system and he hasn t been able to get hold of building owners Cavalier Management on the matter.   At the time of the meeting, Ranzo had already paid his licensing fees and a receipt for the transaction was provided in the agenda packet.   Police Capt. Thomas Grady was notified by the Licensing Board clerk that Trattoria Rustica did not pay the license fees due Jan 1. On Jan. 9, Lt. Jeffrey Bradford went into the restaurant while on patrol after seeing it was open. Bradford introduced himself and notified Manzo that he was going to have notified Grady and the Licensing Board that there were a few patrons drinking wine in the establishment.
