Today is the official end of the recruiting dead period for college athletics. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 last March recruits have been banned from interacting with college staff in person, in an effort to curb the outbreak and kept both parties safe. This has forced coaching staffs to be creative to grab the attention of these recruits Zoom interviews have been numerous, and the staff have been built creative virtual tours of the campus and facilities. Now, with vaccinations in place, positive cases decreasing, hopefully, those virtual days are in the past.
Not only was the COVID protocol tough to maneuver on the recruiting trail, but Boston College was also at a disadvantage during this past year and two months. Jeff Hafley was just starting his first spring practices as a head coach when everything was shut down. Scouting Report: Plays a typical cornerback position and shows a real knack for getting to the ball. Reads routes and quarterbacks eyes well, and has a good burst to jump passes. Solid speed for a cornerback, but maybe a little more undersized than what we typically see out of a Jeff Hafley cornerback.
Recruitment: At this point there seems to be two teams battling for Lyde.Boston College and Wisconsin. The junior has visits to both schools already scheduled, and will be heading to Madison on June 4th for his first visit. While it has been mainly between the Eagles and Badgers, don t count out Louisville who recently offered. Boston College continues to be active in the Class of 21, offering Collin Wright, a defensive back out of Manvel, Texas.
Wright, a three star recruit with offers from Arizona, Duke, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech, California, Vanderbilt and Colorado. It might seem like it s late in the process, but Boston College liked what they saw and offered Wright, a safety.
BC Bulletin spoke with Wright shortly after he announced his offer from Jeff Hafley s staff.
