Live Music This Weekend: Native Johnnie Blackwell traveled far & wide, but home is his rock Steve Wong, Times-News correspondent If Hendersonville ever had a hometown musician, Johnnie Blackwell would have to be a leading contender. Johnnie (note the spelling because it is important) is a native of Hendo, and he’s probably played about every venue in the county and very far beyond. Although he’s not saying how old he is, his long white hair and musical timeline, peg him to be, as we say in the South, a man of a certain age. Hardly a week goes by that Johnnie is not performing with his band or as a soloist or both, rocking it out within easy driving distance. June Loseke, a veterinarian and feedyard operator from Columbus, has been elected to the Nebraska Beef Council Board of Directors in 2021. Loseke will represent fellow beef producers in the council’s seventh district including Nance, Merrick, Hamilton, Platte, Polk, York, Colfax, Butler, Dodge, Saunders, Washington, Douglas, Sarpy and Cass counties. Springfield OKs no-tax-increase spending plan

SPRINGFIELD — Commissioners maintained the tradition of holding a special meeting to approved the budget ordinance. New for the 2021 financial plan with no tax increase was the live stream on the township’s official Facebook page. With commissioners socially distanced in the township’s board room, President Jeff Rudolph first addressed the 2020 county-wide assessment which has impacted all property owners as well as township finances. Rudolph said the board and administration concluded the results had not been fair and equitable as stated. Across the county, many municipalities are studying the issue. One outcome, Rudolph said, is likely to be requesting postponement of implementation of new assessment figures.
