Springfield OKs no-tax-increase spending plan

SPRINGFIELD — Commissioners maintained the tradition of holding a special meeting to approved the budget ordinance. New for the 2021 financial plan with no tax increase was the live stream on the township’s official Facebook page.
With commissioners socially distanced in the township’s board room, President Jeff Rudolph first addressed the 2020 county-wide assessment which has impacted all property owners as well as township finances. Rudolph said the board and administration concluded the results had not been fair and equitable as stated. Across the county, many municipalities are studying the issue. One outcome, Rudolph said, is likely to be requesting postponement of implementation of new assessment figures.
