Easton has received $1.1 million stimulus funds at a time when its residents badly need them.
Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr. announced the arrival of the funds in front of Safe Harbor homeless shelter, which is due $110,000 to pay for this past winter’s warming shelter.
“The city often gets blamed for not caring about people,” Panto said, later adding, “We have a lot of people who have needs.”

Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr. took to Facebook on Sunday to warn a group of homeless that their camp is getting too messy and needs immediate attention.
The Facebook post says homeless in the camp on Mt. Ida are “throwing their garbage and human waste over the mountain.”
Panto said Monday activity at the camp “has been going on for a month or two.” He said he’s known about the trash for a couple weeks.
