SSU welcomes new officer to Public Safety Department Staff report PORTSMOUTH– Shawnee State University is pleased to welcome Charles Hosey as SSU’s newest officer in the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Hosey, a Portsmouth native, has returned to his roots after serving as Deputy Sheriff for Richland County for the last 30 years. Over the past eight years, he has served as Special Deputy United States Marshal on Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. He is also a sergeant in the Ohio Military Reserve. “I am looking forward to making a difference in my community and getting to know the students, staff and faculty,” Hosey said. “I hope to bring some of my knowledge and experience to SSU and uphold the same level of service to my new SSU family.”

New COVID-19 vaccination center at UC Clermont opens Saturday

Clermont County Public Health is opening a new COVID-19 vaccination center that will allow it to double the number of people served daily to 600. Beginning Saturday, March 13, the health department will give vaccinations at the Batavia campus of the University of Cincinnati Clermont College. The shots will be administered in the Student Activities Center of the college at 4200 Clermont College Drive, according to a news release from Clermont County Public Health. Appointments must be scheduled. Walk-ins are not permitted. The amount of vaccine Clermont County Public Health is getting weekly has increased from about 200 doses during the first week of February to more than 1,200 doses during the first week of March, the release said.
