Commission Approves $64 1M for Water, Wastewater Projects

Send The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Commission has approved $64.1 million for water and wastewater projects serving more than 15,593 people in 12 Arkansas counties. The projects are: Central Arkansas Water in Pulaski County received a $200,000 loan and a $17,361 grant to purchase and assume the operation of the Frazier Pike Public Facilities Board. CAW received a $16.3 million loan and a $2.2 million loan with principal forgiveness to install 50 miles of water mains to serve the Ferndale/West Pulaski County area that is currently using individual water wells. CAW received a $1.2 million loan with principal forgiveness to assist low- to moderate-income residents within the Ferndale/West Pulaski County area with connecting to the expanded system.

Grant will expand ‘Caring Connections’ senior calling program to Jefferson, Crook counties BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) The Council on Aging of Central Oregon announced Monday that the Central Oregon Health Council has awarded the agency $137,837 to support older adults at risk of isolation and loneliness through its new calling program connecting volunteers with seniors. The money will be used to expand the agency’s Caring Connections program to adults 60+ in Jefferson and Crook counties. Isolation and loneliness have long been recognized problems in the older adult population. More than one third of adults over age 45 report being lonely (Wilson & Moulton, 2010), equating to over 42 million older adults who experience chronic loneliness. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated an already difficult situation for our older adult neighbors, friends, and family members who spent a lot of time this past year restricted to their homes.
