CADIZ Local organizations are hoping for more participants to join a year-round and summer youth employment program in Harrison County.
The Harrison County Department of Job and Family Services and the Jefferson County Community Action Council are working to add some teens and young adults to the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program, which helps provide job training and experience to residents between the ages of 16 and 24. STEUBENVILLE Molly McGovern figures she’s seeing a Christmas miracle play out this holiday season.
McGovern, president of the Friendship Room, said it’s no secret that this year, more Ohio Valley residents are in need of a helping hand than ever before, in no small part because of issues like the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, homelessness and addiction hanging over the community.
“The need has quadrupled and the community’s response has been staggering,” McGovern said. “So many are reaching out to ask how they can assist a family or individual in need. We’ve seen a tremendous outpouring of kindness and generosity.”
