Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the newly completed projects, including a gender museum, library, mega convention centre and amphitheatre, at the State government’s Gender Park in Kozhikode on February 14. According to Social Justice Department officials, it will also mark the inauguration of the first phase of all completed development works at the park.
One of the major projects on the cards is the International Women’s Trade and Research Centre (IWTRC). Mr. Vijayan will lay the foundation stone for the project during the inaugural ceremony. The IWTRC envisages a secure and sustained ecosystem for women entrepreneurs and a space for them to market their products.

Govt. ready to draft policy for its promotion, says Minister
Stressing the need for a better ecosystem for women empowerment, Health Minister K.K. Shylaja on Thursday said the State government was ready to draft a clear policy for the promotion of social entrepreneurship in Kerala.
Social entrepreneurship is an approach in which individuals, groups or companies implement solutions to social or environmental issues with profit being not the chief aim of business.

‘Sustainability’ to the core theme of the event organised by Gender Park
Conforming to the global sustainable development agenda in letter and spirit, the International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE) organised by the Gender Park in Kozhikode on February 11, 12 and 13 will be the State’s first fully carbon neutral event.
A press release said here on Tuesday that the Gender Park, under the Department of Women and Child Development, is organising the second edition of ICGE in association with UN Women. Speakers and participants from across the world will take part in the event on the Gender Park campus in Kozhikode.

Kerala is ready to open the nation’s first ‘Gender Park,’ which will be operational from February. The Kerala government’s three-tower Gender Park worth INR 300 crore professed to be the nation’s first, which would promote gender equality in the state.
Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, will inaugurate the premises on February 11. He will likewise establish the International Women’s Trade and Research Center (IWTRC) foundation around the same time. It is being constructed to set up a ‘protected and sustained ecosystem to empower women entrepreneurs and offers them a platform to showcase their products.’
The state will further likely to launch a Gender Library, Gender Museum, an Amphitheater, and a Convention Center at the said occasion. All these four facilities will frame the first phase of the Gender Park to ensure gender equality in the state.

UN Women to set up South-Asian Hub on the campus The Gender Park campus at Vellimadukunnu is undergoing thorough cleaning and renovation work, in preparation for the second International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE-II), which will be held here from February 11 to 13.
Come February 27, it will be five years since the campus was opened by former President Pranab Mukherjee. But the State had put the Gender Park project on the back burner, until recently.
