Lagos Police rescue another abandoned one-month-old baby

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday, rescued another one-month-old female child that was abandoned at the junction of a popular petrol station, by Orile Bus Stop, Lagos.
Time was about 8am when the baby was sighted by some passers-by who alerted the Police operatives attached to Orile Division of the Command before she was rescued and handed over to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.
The baby was taken to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu by the Officer in charge of the Gender Unit where CP Hakeem Odumosu directed that the baby be accorded proper medical attention and taken to a government accredited shelter (facility) for custody and proper care.

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday rescued a one-month-old abandoned baby at the Orile area.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the baby was found at 8am at the junction of Odun-Ade Filling Station.
The abandoned baby was sighted by passers-by who alerted the operatives attached to Orile Division.
The newborn has been handed over to the Gender Unit of the Police Command, Ikeja.
Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu directed that the baby be accorded proper medical attention and taken to an accredited shelter for custody and proper care.

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Tuesday, said it had deployed 1,855 officers and men to the streets of the 18 local government areas of the state to provide adequate security before, during, after the Eid el Fitri celebration.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Eweka Dauglas, disclosed this in a statement. He urged his men to be conscious of all identified flashpoints in the state
He also charged them to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens and adhered to the rules of engagement while discharging their duties during the celebration.
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has drafted five new initiatives for implementation this year to protect and look after the welfare of human trafficking victims.
Ministry Strategic Planning and Policy Division, Women Policy and Gender Unit assistant secretary Ajanis Ba’i said the five initiatives encompassed a training module for protection officers, creating an intervention model in shelters and boosting communication services for victims and families. Other initiatives include allowing mothers and children who are rescued together to be housed in the same shelter compared to before which allowed only children under 12 years old to be placed in the same shelter with the mother.
