KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) has drafted five new initiatives for implementation this year to protect and look after the welfare of human trafficking victims.
KPWKM Strategic Planning and Policy Division, Women Policy and Gender Unit assistant secretary Ajanis Ba’i said the five initiatives encompassed a training module for protection officers, creating an intervention model in shelters and boosting communication services for victims and families.
“Other initiatives include allowing mothers and children who are rescued together to be housed in the same shelter compared to before which allowed only children under 12 years old to be placed in the same shelter with the mother.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command has deployed 1,855 personnel to ensure adequate protection of lives and property during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
A statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC. Olufemi Omole in Akure said the State Commandant, Eweka Edenabu Douglas told the personnel to be conscious of all identified flashpoints which happen to be the converging arena for criminals.
Omole said that “Commandant Eweka affirmed that the State Command is in absolute compliance with the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar in his vision to enhance qualitative Service delivery by Officers and men of the Corps.

Popular comedian and Instagram sensation, Abimbola Olasunbo popularly known as Sir Koro has alleged that Comedienne Princess and Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo deliberately set up embattled Yoruba actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha.
The police had in April arrested Baba Ijesha for sexually harassing a 14-year-old girl.
Announcing his arrest in a statement, Lagos police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi alleged that the actor had been sexually assaulting the teenager since she was seven.
