Belarus gets $20 million from OPEC Fund An archive photo MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Belarus has received a $20 million loan from the OPEC International Development Fund, BelTA learned from the Finance Ministry. “In line with the loan agreement signed by Belarus and the OPEC International Development Fund on 24 December 2020 (Public Healthcare Emergency Response Program, Phase I), a $20 million loan was transferred to the Belarusian budget on 28 July 2021,” the message reads. A reminder, in line with the agreement, the loan will be used to boost Belarus healthcare system, to build capacity of the country s public health and mitigate risks related to COVID-19. The OPEC Fund for International Development is an international financial institution established in 1976 by the member countries of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Belarus Renewables Readiness Assessment report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) was launched online on 29 July. Belarus reached out to the agency with a request to conduct this study. It was held in cooperation with the State Committee for Standardization, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the Energy Ministry, the National Statistical Committee and other stakeholders.
