Sarasota s Doctors Hospital receives first allocation of Moderna vaccine

Now, the frontline respiratory therapy team member who treated the Manatee County resident in his 60s is slated to be among the first to receive the first of two doses of the Moderna Vaccine for COVID-19 on Thursday.  “These caregivers will be receiving the vaccine almost 10 months to the day the first patient was diagnosed,” said Monica Yadav, the director of PR and communications for Doctors Hospital. “This is a pretty big deal.”  The first recipients were set to roll up their sleeves at 7 a.m. Thursday in Doctors Hospital’s Medical Office Building, with the hospital’s chief of nursing vaccinating the team.

Venice Regional Bayfront Health nurse dies from coronavirus

The individual reportedly worked as a nurse at the hospital, but no other information was available. “The hospital family is tremendously saddened by the passing of one of our associates,” Venice Regional Bayfront Health spokeswoman Julie Beatty said Wednesday afternoon in a prepared statement. “This person will be dearly missed by coworkers here in the hospital and by loved ones in their family and community.  “Throughout their longstanding tenure with the organization, this individual provided skilled, compassionate service to patients in both direct patient care and in administrative roles,” she continued. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of this wonderful person, and we pray for them during this tremendously difficult time.”
