SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During the inaugural Digital Drama Awareness Week at South Tahoe Middle School, besides the daily messages for students and parents from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), there was a poster contest for those in 6th-8th grades.
Students were tasked with creating a poster that sent a message to the other students about how bullying and digital drama is wrong, and the right way to treat people. In a non-COVID world, the contest would be started off with an assembly and open to all students, not just those in Club Live, Leadership, and Art. Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) contributed the cash prizes.

Mentors, role models, heroes those who inspire us help shape us and the truth is, we don’t ever grow out of needing people to look up to. Life would be dull if we did. It’s what connects us, makes us human, means we care, pushes us forwards.
I’ve been thinking a lot over the last two weeks, since Rachael Blackmore’s phenomenal history-making Grand National win, and I’ve been thinking a lot in that time about the importance of role models and heroes how much crossover there is between those terms, and what the necessary attributes and qualities are and, of course, how gender plays into it.
