In the run-up to the Women’s Euro 2022 play-off matches in April we are highlighting the players who have helped the Northern Ireland senior women’s squad reach the play-offs for a major tournament for the first time in the team’s history.
To say Julie Nelson is a well-travelled footballer is an understatement.

Great Rivers United Way program to Zoom through mobile pay apps
February 19, 2021 4:55 PM Mike Tighe
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) Great Rivers United Way is promoting another practical way that is in keeping with its mission to work toward the common good with information to explain one of the least common denominators between generations these days.
A Zoom Coffee and Conversation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 25 also will bridge that generation/tech gap regarding mobile money.
“My kids want me to send them money using Venmo. My phone keeps nagging me to sign up for Google Pay. And my Rotary encourages me to use PayPay,” says a tongue-in-cheek exasperated Julie Nelson, Great Rivers’ community engagement coordinator.

And possibly advancing the cause of racial justice.
On his first day in office, President Joe Biden moved to both erase the white supremacist legacy of the previous White House and address injustices that existed long before Donald Trump came to power.
“A cry for racial justice some 400 years in the making moves us. The dream of justice for all will be deferred no longer,” Biden said in his inaugural speech. Racial justice is one of the administration’s top priorities, alongside the pandemic and the economy, he said.
Later in the day, Biden issued an executive order on “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government” to put his pledge into action. The order received scant attention amid a wave of actions from the White House, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. It has the potential to advance the cause of racial justice on several key fronts.

FILE - In this May 3, 2020, file photo, the setting sun shines on the Supreme Court building in Washington. As coronavirus cases surge again nationwide, the Supreme Court late Wednesday, Nov. 25, temporarily barred New York from enforcing certain attendance limits at houses of worship in areas designated as hard hit by the virus. The court’s action won’t have any immediate impact since the two groups that sued as a result of the restrictions, the Catholic church and Orthodox Jewish synagogues, are no longer subject to them.
