A polling agent of Awami League mayoral candidate was sentenced to one year imprisonment for violating the electoral code of conduct in Bogura s Sariakandi municipality election today.
The convict was identified as Shahadat Hossain (30), reports our local correspondent.
He was former joint convener of Sariakandi upazila unit of Chhatra League, confirmed Md Ayub Ali Tarafdar, president of the local Jubo League unit.
Niskriti Hagidak, a senior judicial magistrate of Bogura, sentenced Shahadat, polling agent of AL mayoral candidate Motiur Rahman, to one year imprisonment through a summary trial court for secretly entering a polling booth at Batia Government Primary School and trying to influence voters to cast vote for AL symbol, boat.
