Mount Greylock Announces Class of 2021 Speakers

  Ruth J. Weaver was chosen by the faculty to speak at graduation. The daughter of Katie Kent and Ben Weaver of Williamstown, she has completed seven Advanced Placement courses and spent a semester in a Williams College dual enrollment seminar studying 19th-century British literature. Exceptionally talented, she has a passion for  acting, music and classics. In roles as varied as Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly! to The Tempest s Prospero, Weaver has mesmerized all with her on-stage theatrical performances for the past six years both in school and at local repertory companies. She also participated in the performing arts band playing both the alto and baritone saxophones. Her performances in Greylock Plays are captivating, and she is as generous on stage as she is talented. As a member of the Junior Classical League, she moved through the leadership ranks serving as a local technical coordinator, publications editor, local president and eventually the state secretary.

Mikell-George leaves Thomas Jefferson prepared for college life For the last seven years Addison-Jae Mikell-George went above and beyond to find success in and out of classrooms at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy. So it is natural she joined her fellow seniors in saying goodbye to the school in the most fun way possible.  “We had a big Nerf fight in the hallways. It was something the seniors had planned, but (Dianne) Bridges let us do it,” said Mikell-George after the going-away fun was over.  “It doesn’t feel real. With TJ nothing is ever done,” she added. “When we’d go on breaks and be sent on vacation over summer, we would get these 14-page packets and we never got finished. To actually be done just doesn’t feel real.”

Smith, cashier of the Shoe and Leather Bank of Auburn, recently received a May basket in the form of a box of chocolates and a bouquet of carnations from the clerks at the bank. The whole company was invited into the home and spent a most enjoyable evening. 50 Years Ago: 1971 Miss Tizz Crowley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crowley of 143 Pleasant St. Auburn, has been named to the Eagles Honor Society at the University of Maine at Portland. Tizz is a member of the freshman class and is a political science major. She also is a freshman class senator and was social editor of the Viking. A graduate of Edward Little High School in the class of 1970, Tizz took a prominent part in school activities. She served as president of both the American Field Service Chapter and the Junior Classical League, was editor of Station ELHS, served as historian for the senior banquet and was a member of the Pep, Dramatic, Biology and Interna
