Aw man, not on Detroit Day!
Michigan’s giant 2020 linebacker class, the one that was supposed to restock the cupboards, is down to just Kalel Mullings and Nikhai Hill-Green, after LB Cornell Wheeler announced this evening he’s entering the portal.

The lowest ranked but highest floored of the class that’s also lost viper William Mohan and ILB Osman Savage, Wheeler’s calling card was playing in the heart of West Bloomfield’s defense, which then-coach Ron Bellamy modeled on Don Brown’s, including in terminology. Wheeler didn’t just dabble his toes in it either he started four games as a freshman and racked up almost 300 tackles as an upperclassman, serving as team captain both seasons.

Well, finally.
Sam Webb, Chris Balas, and others are reporting Michigan has come to terms with Kentucky defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale to be the Wolverines new defensive pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach.
Michigan had one name on everybody’s lips when co-DC/cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist, hired just last January, couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be the head coach of Buffalo. It was the same name bandied about before Linguist was hired. And the same name this site was all but banging the table for a year before that, when Chris Partridge departed for Ole Miss and Michigan ended up replacing him with Bob Shoop. It’s also one of very few names you could be reading at the top of this post that might actually make you feel better than Linguist did, especially when it came to guys Michigan could find in mid-May.
Wolverine recruiting report: The battle for 2022 cornerback Myles Pollard
Today 8:02 AM
He is one of the Wolverines’ top targets this cycle.
RANKING: No. 37 cornerback, No. 16 overall prospect in Tennessee and No. 418 in the country, per 247Sports’ Composite rankings
SIZE: 6-foot-2, 185 pounds
THE BATTLE: Pollard might be a three-star prospect, but he’s still one of the most coveted players in the class, reportedly holding 39 offers. He narrowed his list down to six schools in February: Michigan, Tennessee, Kentucky, Washington, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma. However, he was offered by Auburn in March and is still strongly considering the Tigers.
WHAT ARE MICHIGAN’S CHANCES? Pollard took a self-guided tour to Michigan last month and Ann Arbor is scheduled to be his first official visit June 11-13th. He also is scheduled to take officials to Oklahoma and Auburn later that month, but getting Pollard on campus for a second time should bode well for the Wolverines.

With basketball season over and spring practice in the books, it’s time to turn the page to football.
Michigan broke in a new defensive coordinator and new-look coaching staff the past few months. And while the media didn’t any in-person access, we were able to glean some insight into the changes.
We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of our @hopecollege football coaching staff - James Ross III. The former @UMichFootball linebacker and graduate assistant coach for the Wolverines will coach our linebackers.
