Texas Youth of the Year Honor Goes to Fort Hood Teen Moses talked to the Fort Hood Sentinel about the competition, telling editor Brandy Cruz,  “I was overwhelmed, but I walked in with the Lord and I walked out with the Lord.” The Boys & Girls Clubs of America organizes the annual program which looks at each participants volunteerism, leadership and communication skills. The competition also includes writing four essays, a speech and an interview. Moses is a sophomore at Shoemaker High School, and she s also in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps as well as AVID. She does a lot of volunteer work in the community, giving her time to help the elderly and even serving as the secretary of youth ministry at her church.
