Mayor: Crews working on power issues in Gueydan, Entergy aware of outage

The Mayor of Gueydan says that crews are still addressing power issues in town following an outage caused by a lightning strike.
Mayor Jude Reese says that the issues they are facing now are on the Entergy side. Entergy is aware of the situation and are working to resolve the issue.
Reese says the lighting strike melted a switch for the grid. CLECO, Entergy, LUS and a contracted company are working together to restore power.
KATC has reached out to Entergy for comment.

GUEYDAN, La. â Vermilion Parish Sheriff s detectives are currently investigating an altercation that involved the Gueydan Police Chief.
Mayor Jude Reese says Chief Shawn Theriot was involved in an altercation and is currently being investigated by Vermilion Parish Sheriff s Office.
The owner of Gueydan Tire Company and stepdaughter to Police Chief Theriot spoke to KATC and shared details she recalls of the incident.
Ashlyn Murphy tells us a customer was upset because he wanted certain tires on his car, but the staff at the tire shop said they were not safe for his vehicle.

The Town of Gueydan has issued a state of emergency on Monday, February 15.
Mayor Jude Reese declared that the state of emergency will be in effect until Wednesday, February 17 at 6:00 am.
A stay at home order has also been issued.
Only town workers, police, fire personnel and essential workers along with first responders will be allowed out in an emergency.
The order says that those caught on the roads will be given a citation.
All residents are urged, unless an emergency to stay home in place until the cold has subsided.
