Volunteer hands over keys to Aladdin s Cave of Fairtrade

By Pete Hughes Experiences: Gilli Robbins has retired as manager of the Fairtrade shop under St Michael at the Northgate Church in Cornmarket Street ELEPHANT poo notebooks, thunder-making machines and ornaments made from recycled coke cans – Oxford’s Fairtrade at St Michael’s shop is an Aladdin’s Cave of goods. Now, the woman who has managed the shop, which helps support some of the world’s poorest producers by giving them a fair deal, for 10 years is reluctantly handing over the reins. Gilli Robbins, 65, was one of the first volunteers when the store opened in the basement at St Michael at the Northgate Church in Cornmarket Street in 2003.
