The Trinidad and Tobago Guardian is the longest running daily newspaper in the country, marking its centenary in 2017. The paper started life as the Trinidad Guardian on Sunday 2nd September 1917 by the newly formed Trinidad Publishing Company Limited.
Flood waters swallow vehicles

Catastrophic floods caused as a result of an isolated thunderstorm swept through parts of north west Trinidad yesterday, leaving many still counting their losses and assessing damage to their properties.
Swollen rivers and water courses burst their banks, pouring into streets and swallowing vehicles in its path.
Among the areas impacted were Diego Martin, Maraval, St Ann’s, Cascade, Long Circular Road, Saddle Road, Fairways, Champs Elyees, Duncan, Nelson Streets, South Quay, areas along the Western Main Road as well as parts of Santa Cruz.
Pre-school teacher takes immense financial hit

Michelle Charles’ vocation as a pre-school teacher brought her immense joy. She would often say, “I get to be part of building a strong academic foundation in the lives of these young ones.”
But her passion of 28 years came to a sudden halt last year when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, forcing the closure of schools. Now all Charles, 44, has that bears any semblance of a pre-school, are number and word charts that embellish a wall in an area of the house where her lone preschooler is her nephew whom she teaches at the home she now shares with her sister and their seven children.
